CORE PRINCIPLES

Of all of us, companies have the most power when it comes to a global move towards sustainability. Companies decide what they produce and how, what their products are packaged in, and how their products are distributed.  Often, they prioritise profit over environmental best-practice If we need or want their products we, as consumers, have to accept whatever sustainability standards they have set themselves. When we buy a company's products we are buying into their sustainability ethos, however aspirational or apathetic that might be. If the companies we know and love actually implemented sustainable practices then it would make sustainable living much more attainable for consumers.

Implore companies to transition to more sustainable resources and practices

HOW I WILL DO IT​

  • Use The Fitzplasticks and Lightfoot Odyssey instagram accounts, and email, to address companies through social media, asking them specific sustainability questions

  • Ask companies to take direct responsibility for recycling the packaging their products come in

  • Research the packaging designers for specific companies, and DM/email them

  • Speak to managers in shops etc about who to contact with sustainability questions, and find out what they think of the company’s track record on sustainability

  • Talk to local business owners about the sustainability issues they face and how they can demand a more ethical supply chain

  • Encourage people to put their consumer power towards putting pressure on companies and industries to switch to more sustainable practices
